The Mach III-KOMO Operator operates the Mach III or KOMO machines. Individual is familiar with its safety features and guidelines. Individual has a keen eye for quality. It also involves the upkeep and maintenance of the entire Mach III or KOMO area.  Individual also coordinates and works closely with the upcoming shift to determine any needs that may arise regarding changeover. 

Essential Functions

1.       Starts up and shuts down of the machine.

2.       Understands the programing of the Mach III or KOMO along with how to locate and maneuver the programs needed to operate the machine.

3.       Understands the machines codes or can learn this.

4.       Changes bits and able to re-order bits or sharpen blades. Change drill bits and flush mill bits.

5.       Communicates with QA to review parts or quality issues.

6.       Conducts basic maintenance on the Mach III or KOMO.

7.       Is familiar with all emergency shut offs and stops or resets.

8.       Understands the self-lubricating mechanism on the machine.

9.       Understands and follows the enhanced dispatch list.

10.    Enters in ECO’s and puts in maintenance requests.

11.    Changes between all materials as necessary.

12.    Presence in the workplace is an essential function of this job.

 

Additional Functions

May be responsible for training others on the Mach III or KOMO’s operation.
Other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

·         Mechanical aptitude.

·         Good understanding of the metric system as well as the metric tools necessary to operate the machine.

·         Good communication skills required to ensure communication between shifts.

·         Ability to read CAD drawing preferred.

·         Prior CNC experience preferred.

·         Some familiarity with Word, Excel, etc. preferable.

·         Basic knowledge of our support system, i.e. Fourth Shift.

·         Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language for safety purposes in an understandable manner.

 

Working conditions

Our production environment is typical for wood manufacturing and includes a variety of environmental elements including loud noise, dust, and aromas. While this is an indoor operation, temperatures will vary with the outdoor temperature and some areas of the shop may be hot or cold.  Individual may be subject to vibration.  Individual is subject to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles and/or heat.  Hearing protection is required in this area.  

 

Physical requirements

Production positions are physically demanding and may be strenuous. They are standing positions and include frequent walking, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds. There are a lot of body movements, including extending arms, grasping with hands, and flexing of wrists. There may be a lot of bending and twisting. Each position requires ongoing rotations of movements and workers must have the physicality to perform the essential functions.  Ability to lift 50 lbs. and push or pull up to125 lbs.  Ability to stand for long periods of time.
